nicotine for ice cream

we all scream for ice cream. well, i've come to the conclusion that i scream a little too often. even though i've lost tons of weight and met plenty of life changing challenges within the past year and a half, ice cream has been my kryptonite. hate superman, but the reference fit the bill.

anyways, i feel that this depression soother has been my one pitfall within this whole "commit to fit" ordeal. i've been pretty much consistent with my working out and dieting routine, of course with missteps here and there. but now, i'm attempting to get back into my "hardcore" regimen, with brand new workouts and tweaking my diet to revitalize my body. it came to a point where everything was routine, monotonous. and so far, i've seen the results...

but damn damn damn! ice cream pops up like a pimple. it has gotten so bad where after the gym, or whatever workout, i'm convincing myself to not stop for it. seriously, i'm in the car talking to myself;

"c'mon man, you know you want it. you know how good it is to have it just melt in your mouth. think of the good times dude. like when you were a kid, flaggin down the ice cream truck everyday. a quarter donut (or two) and two strawberry shortcakes. good humor brand. yeaaaaa. reminisce."

"man, back up off me! i just got done workin' out! you know you can't just go put it right back on! but i'm not gonna lie. that does sound good right about now..."

then i end up calling kyle, asking him if he "needs" me to stop anywhere on my way home, when in all actuality, i really want him to say yes to use that as an excuse to get what i want. i mean, i'm already in walgreens, in the freezer section. i should gon' head and get me some ice cream.

and then i stand in front of the section and stare, gawking at options, when i know i'm going to end up with either a cookie sandwich, strawberry shortcake or a klondike bar. whatever i get, it has no chance of survival once i get in that car! let's just say tinted windows are one of the best inventions ever.

so i'm challenging myself. a month without ice cream. this should be easy right? i've done almost a year and a half without krispy kreme before. at least six months of no fast food (specifically mcd's and bk). and other challenges to myself. but this will by far be the toughest yet. and i'm doing it during the roughest part of the year, holiday season. but i'm going to be smart about the start date. I know within the next couple of weeks or so, i'm going to be getting the rest of my wisdom teeth removed... for reals for reals this time though. so i have to choose a date after that. but let's just use monday, october 19th as the preliminary start date.

stay tuned!

Use Somebody

We all can use somebody at one point or another in our lives. That extended hand can make the world of difference sometimes. When you're gay and being yourself is still taboo, that help is more than necessary. Nowadays, that extra sense of security can be found at your local neighborhood GLBT group center. But for the most part, those are located in more metropolitan areas than anything. When you do not have that luxury, the internet becomes that extra somebody.

To be honest, this post started out as a precursor to me placing a link to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) 2009 Buyers Guide: Buying for Equality, which I still will do. But I will use this as a jump start to other postings of blogs, books, music, websites and other internet clippings that will hopefully provide guidance and assistance for someone struggling with their identity. 1 love!

P.S. If you have any websites, books, music, etc that will help, just get in contact with me. Let's inspire and help people!!!

My New Toy?!

The guys over at BGR got these hot pics of the 2nd generation Google phone, T-Mobile myTouch 3g, that's supposedly hitting stores in August but available as a preorder to T-Mobile customers as early as July 8th. I think my BB 8900 might have to take a seat to this for a month or two. Hit the link below to catch more pics and info on this hot new toy!

Ecstasy!

Me and music go hand-in-hand like big women and spandex... Yea, anyways, here is the first installment of Ecstasy! where I list music that has consumed my body within the past week. Ok ok, basically I randomly decide what albums to put up, but real talk, they usually correspond to my current state of being. Hopefully this will give people some new music to check out and add to their collection. Now without further interruption, I present this week's Ecstasy!:

Say what you will about this trio of bros but they sure have talent. Not to mention that they are up there on the cuteness meter... even though Nick is jailbait. Their new album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, is a step in the maturing process in their song writing and musical direction. And to me, it also furthers the future solo power of Nick Jonas. So stop writing them off as Disney, teeny boppers and actually give this album a listen. You'll be surprised.

Jackson 5: 20th Century Masters- The Millennium Collection is just one of many compilations and anthologies that have been released marking the greatness of The Jackson 5. This is one of my favorite, if not the favorite, groups of all time. They had the whole package: nifty dance moves, play instruments, sing and of course, pretty damn good looking. And how could you not love young Michael Jackson?! MJ was the man even before he became a man. This selection for the week was inspired by The Jacksons- An American Dream miniseries which I truly recommend! Joe Jackson is a baaaaad man!
